Hi,I'mColin.

I'm a senior software engineer at Commure. I built the backend for Air Scribe, an ambient scribe that handles clinical documentation so doctors can spend more time focused on their patients. I've been a core engineer on Air, our AI-native EHR, since before it launched, and through its growth to $10M+ ARR. Before software, I was on the track team at Cal.

Right now

At work I'm on Scribe features: drafting the orders a clinician mentions during a visit, letting clinics choose what carries forward from the last note, and making sure a recording survives a bad connection.

Outside work I'm building MyLogbook, a training app for runners and cyclists, and spend my time on photography, reading and design. I live in San Francisco.

Work

More detail on my resume.

  1. Jul 2025 to now

Senior Software Engineer, Air Scribe, at Commure

Shipped Scribe orders, from scoping through a staged rollout. Now on configurable carry-forward. Made visit recording hold up through dropped connections on web and mobile, and look after the Cloud Run services Scribe runs on.

  2. Jan 2024 to Jul 2025

Software Engineer, Air EHR and Air Scribe, at Commure

Joined Air while it was still being built and worked across the core EHR through its July 2025 launch. When it became clear Air needed its own scribe, I moved up to own it and built the Air Scribe backend; moving it to async I/O made notes about 3x faster. Also tracked down a memory bug that had cold starts across the company taking over 4 minutes. After the fix they took under 10 seconds.

  3. Jun 2022 to Jan 2024

Full-Stack Engineer at RoBhat Labs, acquired by Commure

Built the content ranking behind a 7% lift in day-one retention and 5x notification engagement, and a semantic search tool for the ops team. Managed 10 content operators.

  4. May 2021 to Aug 2021

Data Science Intern at CoreVest Finance

Built an OCR pipeline over 1,000+ PDF loan applications, then led the intern team that trained a model on it for underwriters.

    UC Berkeley

Economics, minor in Data Science. Ran for Cal on the track and field team. Out of curiosity, I took Innovative Design's graphic design DeCal, and shot photos for the Blue & Gold Yearbook to work on my photography.

MyLogbook

An adaptive training platform for runners and cyclists that builds each block around completed work rather than a fixed plan.

MyLogbook ingests activities from Strava and Garmin alongside recovery metrics (HRV, resting heart rate and sleep) and post-session notes, then rebalances the coming weeks when sessions are missed or fatigue builds. I designed and built it independently, and it's currently in beta.

TypeScript, Hono, React and Drizzle on Postgres, with Python services handling Garmin sync as QStash background jobs.

Daybook

A private photo and video journal you share with friends.

Daybook is modeled on early social media: a chronological feed of posts from people you know. Connections are mutual, the feed is ordered newest first, and there is no ranking or recommendation layer.

Originals are stored at full resolution. Uploads go directly to R2 and are resized at the edge by Cloudflare, so a 3.3 MB phone photo is delivered as a 12 KB AVIF in about 150 ms. Video is processed through a GPU transcode that preserves 4K HDR color, and a follow graph in Postgres governs visibility.

Go, Next.js, PostgreSQL and Cloudflare.
